With access to the internet and reality tv there is an enormous amount of misleading and even unethical advice. By the end of our discussion we hope you’ll feel more knowledgeable about how to choose a professional to work with you and your pet as well as how to improve the human-animal bond with your pets at home!

Barktoberfest 2022

Peninsula SPCA’s 16th Annual Barktoberfest Festival is back! This Fido-friendly festival is a fun time for all located on the beautiful waterfront of Downtown Hampton. Enjoy live music, tastings in the beer garden, delicious food trucks, and shop with local vendors and artisans. You can also try your luck with the raffles and participate in fun contests- for dogs too! Our popular costume contests are for pups and people with CASH PRIZES! As always, all of the proceeds help the homeless animals and community programs at the Peninsula SPCA.

Pup Days of Summer - Fest

The 2nd Annual Pup Days of Summer -Fest will include interactive activities for the dogs and their humans, educational and training sessions, raffles, giveaways, and dog focused retail vendors.
 
This year the Pup Days of Summer – Fest will be raising money for the The Dooney Sullivan Angel Fund- created to assist pet owners that have fallen on hard times and lack the funds required to support their pet in a medical crisis. The owner will be nominated by the doctor based on financial need, and the perceived outcome of the case. (Meaning that medical intervention will make a desirable outcome to the life of the patient), the case goes to the medical director and hospital manager for the application process.

Private Sessions

Private Puppy Preschool

$500 for Six Weeks
1 Hour (First Appointment is 1 Hour and 30 Minutes)

This six-week private class will focus on appropriate socialization, foundation behaviors, and life skills that are essential for development at this critical stage. We will also address common training challenges (house training, mouthing, chewing, jumping, etc) and teach positive training techniques you can continue to use in the future.

Private Puppy Preschool allows for one-on-one help for those with puppies needing more assistance or for those who want to do more with their puppies.

Puppies should be between 8-12 weeks of age, and should receive a minimum of one set of vaccines at least 7 days prior to the first class & a first deworming. They should be kept up to date on age appropriate vaccines throughout the class. Proof of vaccinations will be required.

Private Puppy Junior

$500 for Six Weeks
1 Hour (First Appointment is 1 Hour and 30 Minutes)

This six week private class will focus on further generalizing and building of foundational skills. The primary focus will be continued socialization and further building basic manners and life skills.

This course is Part 2 to the Puppy Socialization Class. For puppies who haven’t gone through Puppy Preschool classes, the course will be modified to meet the puppy’s needs for socialization and foundational skills.

Puppies should be between 4-6 months of age.
